   L'Afrique sur Seine

Afrique-sur-Seine is commonly considered the first true sub-Saharan African film – despite having been shot in Paris by a group of ex-pats, of which one, Robert Carristan, wasn't even from Africa but the Antilles, while its star, Marpessa Dawn, was an African American actress.
The film shows sketches from a variety of African lives in France: There's the student, the beggar, the kitchen worker etc. – background existences one but passes on the streets. What unites these - in one way or another - is a tacitly shared vision of a mythical Africa.
